The highlight of our weekend was being able to attend our Stake Temple Day. On our first Sunday here in the ward, they sent out a sign up sheet of who wanted to attend Stake Temple Day. I signed us up, and marked that we needed a ride. Nervously I told Jeff about it (he doesn't like feeling like we are a burden on others) but surprisingly he was really excited. A month went by, and this week I got an email from someone in our ward. The email had couples paired up from our ward of who was driving who. A couple in our ward was assigned to drive us that we had never met before. Through e-mail we arranged that they would pick us up just outside our apartment.
We made it to the temple and were able to attend a session. It was wonderful to be there, and everything worked out perfectly! The temple is out in the suburbs, and took us about an hour to get there. If we were to take public transportation, it would have taken us a couple hours to get there, and we would have to take a cab for part of the way. We were so grateful that we could have a ride, and also that we made some new friends in our ward.
The Chicago Temple is beautiful, but very small. It almost looks like a Stake Center with more steeples and everything is right there on the main floor. The session all took place in one room, and there was about 30 seats total.
What a great experience and a wonderful way to spend your weekend. Looks like you had great weather after the big snow storm. I was lucky to make it home from Vermont before the "historic blizzard." We had a snowy weekend in SLC. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
