Jeff was let out at 1:00pm on July 3rd from his internship, so it was the perfect opportunity for us to head out of the city. We jumped on the bus and headed to Baltimore:
It was POURING rain on our bus ride down because of the hurricane that has been on the lower east coast. We brought our umbrellas and were ready to explore Baltimore in the rain. About 15 minutes after we arrived in Baltimore, the rain let up completely... perfect timing!
Our first stop was Camden Yards for an Oriels game (ballpark #4 for the summer)

After the game, we had a beautiful walk down to the harbor.
Hands down, I am SO glad we made this stop in Baltimore. It is such a charming city, and I fell in love with it!
We then headed to the train station to catch our 12:15am train to DC. When we arrived at the train station, all of the trains were delayed at least 3-4 hours due to weather from the hurricane. There were power outages and most of the trains were completely stopped. Luckily, we were able to catch a different train and were able to make it to DC around 1:45am.
One of the highlights of our entire trip was definitely our hotel. Sometimes I forget how nice it is to sleep in a huge, comfy bed in a dark room. It felt AMAZING! Thank you Davis family for letting us use your time share points!
..the 4th of July..
Jeff and I decided that Arlington Cemetery was the perfect place to spend the 4th. Neither of us had been there before so we decided to start our day off with the tour.

We were able to watch the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
After Arlington Cemetery, we decided to walk up to the Iwo Jima Memorial
Then we found the White House
After all of the walking... I needed a Rocket Pop
By this time, it was late afternoon, and we decided to head to the Mall. We hung out the rest of the evening walking around and sitting on the lawn waiting for the fireworks to start.

Spending the 4th of July in DC was absolutely amazing. We were able to remember those who fought for our country, and celebrate this wonderful land.
For the rest of our trip, we spent most of our time walking around the Mall and seeing the different memorials and museums.

Wow! We had a busy few days with a LOT of walking, but I feel so grateful that we were able to see DC together. The history there is incredible to remember, and I love the patriotism that we felt! It is a great reminder of how blessed we are to live in this free country.
DC was such a memorable trip for us!
